1. What happens when there is more than one child with Disability in the same household?
 
The Disabled Child Allowance is paid in respect of each child with a disability in the family.  The same rate applies to all the children concerned in that household.
 
 
2. Is the Disabled Child Allowance means tested?
 
As from 5 January 2008 this allowance is no longer means tested.
 
 
3. For how long is the application valid?
 
The Disabled Child Allowance application, once confirmed, is valid until the child attains 16 years of age or 14 years in the case of a visually impaired person.
 
 
4. How is the Disabled Child Allowance paid?
 
The Disabled Child Allowance is paid in advance for a period of 13 weeks at the rate of €20.00 per week per child.
