Milk Grant Benefit

Overview
 

A Head of Household who is in receipt of Social or Tuberculosis Assistance may be entitled to Milk Grant if he shows to the satisfaction of the Director that he or any member of his household has the care and custody of a child under forty weeks of age who requires weaning or complementary feeding or who cannot breast feed for medical reasons. 

 

Eligibility

 
The head of household is already in receipt of Social or Tuberculosis Assistance.
 
 

Procedure

 
In order to apply for this Benefit, a person must fill in the prescribed application form (PA 203), which can be obtained from the Department of Social Security or from any local District Social Security Office.  Once completed, the form must be returned to the same office.

Once an application is received, it is verified in order to ensure that all eligibility criteria are fulfilled.  If the application is accepted, it will be submitted for recommendation before a Medical Panel and if the Medical Panel approves, Milk Grant will be granted until the child reaches forty (40) weeks of age.  If the application is rejected, the claimant is informed accordingly in writing.
