Nearly one thousand, one hundred parents were paid €580,000 in Covid temporary benefits
The payment process has now been concluded and over 1, 100 parents of children under the age of 16 and children with severe disabiities have benefitted from the Covid temporary benefits. Over 1, 422 applications were received, meaning that nearly 78% of the applicants were deemed eligible for this benefit.
Further to the payments effected at the end of this week, the expenditure will have reached €580,000. This expenditure rises to nearly €645,000 when including the Social Security contributions paid.
The Minister for Social Justice and Solidarity, the Family and Children’s Rights Dr Michael Falzon reiterated that this exercise has shown once more how this Government intervenes: taking action in the best interests of Maltese and Gozitan families.
Minister Falzon recalled how since the outset of the pandemic, a number of additional social measures were launched so that nobody would fall behind and meanwhile people would still be paid any previous benefits.
