Q

New Online Service Launched – Life Certificate – Submit

01/05/2024 | Latest News

Overview

Life Certificates are generated by the International Relations Unit (IRU) and sent by post to social security beneficiaries residing abroad. If the IRU does not receive back the Life Certificate from the beneficiary within a period of forty-five (45) days, then all benefit payments are stopped.

The service to upload the Life Certificate online is aimed at simplifying the process for foreign social security beneficiaries that are residing abroad to submit their Life Certificate, reducing administrative burdens and enhancing accessibility.

Beneficiaries are to access the mySocialSecurity webapp and navigate to the section for Online Services. Upon selecting the Life Certificate upload service, the beneficiary must enter the Document Reference of the Life Certificate and IRU Reference (which is the pension number). Both these reference numbers can be found on the first page of the Life Certificate that is sent by post to the beneficiary. Once this information is inputted, an automatic date of issuance of the Life Certificate together with the calendar year of the Life Certificate is shown. The beneficiary must then input a valid email address. This email address will be used for further communication to the beneficary, The beneficiary is to proceed by uploading the scanned copy of the filled-in life certificate to complete submission. Confirmation of successful submission will be provided by email.

Within the submission only the Life Certificate of the beneficiary is to be uploaded and must not include that of the spouse. Should there be the Life Certificate of the spouse, this needs to be submitted in a separate submission.
