Statutory Bonuses – Pensioner Employed Part-time

Overview

A Pensioner who retires on his pension age may opt to continue working. In this circumstance, if the pensioner is employed part-time, he may be entitled for the difference in payment of statutory bonuses from that paid by the employer. This also applies to beneficiaries in reciept of Severe Disability Assistance and are employed part-time. This does not apply to beneficiaries in receipt of Tapering of Benefits who are employed part-time.

 What you’ll get

The beneficiary will be entitled for:

  • The difference in full for the bonus paid in June and December
  • Two-thirds of the difference for the bonus paid in March and September since pensioners are only entitled for two-thirds of the amount of this bonus

Eligibility

General eligibility criteria:

  • The beneficiary is to be employed on a part-time basis

Documentation Required

General documentation:

  • Copies of payslips issued by the employer, which include the amount of statutory bonuses for periods January to June and July to December. Copies of payslips are to be submitted, by not later than 30 days from issuance of June and December payslips of current calendar year until the beneficiary remains in employment

Or

  • Submit an official declaration by the employer indicating number of hours of work to be performed weekly and amount of statutory bonuses that will be paid every quarter (no further applications are to be submitted unless there is a change in the number of hours of work performed)
