Q

Social Security Contributions – Gaps

Overview

This service is intended to guide you to identify gaps in your social security contributions record and to take potential actions to address any gaps. Contributions made in the previous year will be displayed in December of the following year. The display categorises contributions into different classes:

  • Class 1 contributions and credits: These are for employed persons.
  • Class 2 and Class 3 contributions and credits: These are for self-occupied and self-employed persons, respectively.

If after the age of sixteen (16), you were not gainfully employed, did not reside in Malta, or was officially exempted from paying social security contributions, it is normal that you will have missing social security contributions during these indicated periods.
