Once-only Grant – Former Employees of the Rediffusion Group of Companies who were assimilated by Telemalta Corporation and those who were engaged in the Broadcasting Division of the Corporation prior to 1st January 1978

Overview

In order to implement one of the measures identified in Budget 2026, the Prime Minister, the Minister for Finance and the Minister for Social Policy and Children’s Rights have developed the following scheme to provide a once-only grant for persons who:

  • were employed by the Rediffusion Group of Companies and were assimilated by Telemalta Corporation and other individuals who were engaged in the broadcasting division of the Corporation prior to 1st January 1978.
  • have not qualified or may not qualify for a pension similar to that operated by Government for employees in the public Service.

What you’ll get

The grant will be paid only to eligible applicants who qualify and comply with the provisions of this Scheme.

The payment of the grant shall be paid to eligible applicants directly into a bank account where the pension of the same applicant is deposited.

No interests are due to the eligible applicant on the amount of this grant. The condition of this Scheme for those accepting the grant, is that the applicant shall be renouncing to any other claim related to this Scheme and withdraw any case instituted against Government, Authority or Government entity.

The Scheme may be spread over a number of years with separate calls for applications that are issued from time to time. Each call for application shall be subject to a separate verification process.

Eligibility

  • This Scheme applies to eligible applicants who were employed by the Rediffusion Group of Companies who were later assimilated by Telemalta Corporation and other eligible individuals who were engaged in the Broadcasting Division of the Corporation prior to 1st January 1978.
  • The Scheme also applies to the heirs of such eligible individuals if they satisfy the conditions of this Scheme.
  • The scheme does not apply to those individuals who receive, or have the right to receive, a pension similar to that granted to Government employees.

How to apply

Persons who applied and were eligible for the scheme issued last year and who are still eligible to receive payment under the same scheme do not need to reapply.

New applications under this Scheme must be made using the application form shown in the Schedule to this Scheme and must include all the information and details required in the said form and according to this Scheme.

In the case of a deceased person who would be eligible under this scheme, an application must be made by the heirs.
