Q

Personal Details – Update

Overview

This service lets you request an update of your personal details to match those on your Maltese Identity Card, which you may have identified as not being correct with the Department of Social Security records. It allows you to request an update of your personal details including the name, surname, sex identification, date of birth and civil status. This is necessary if these details do not match with those on your Maltese Identity Card as it may impact certain benefits and services offered by the department. You can view the details as held by the Department of Social Security by clicking here.

What you’ll get

You can request to update the following details as per your Maltese Identity Card:

  • Identity Card Number.
  • Name and Surname.
  • Sex Identification.
  • Date of Birth.
  • Civil Status (which is not part of the details on the Maltese Identity Card).

After submission, the department will verify these details with the Maltese government agency Identità. Verification may take between five (5) to ten (10) days, depending on the case. Once verified and confirmed, your details will be updated on the Department of Social Security system. You will be informed of the outcome if the request was made online and you requested an email notification during submission. If the request was done through a walk-in at a servizz.gov hub, you may indicate whether to be informed by email or by a contact number.
