Orphan’s Supplementary Allowance
Overview
An Orphan’s Allowance may be awarded to a person who is entrusted with the care and custody of a youngster between the ages of sixteen (16) and twenty-one (21) years, whose parents are both deceased.

What you’ll get
Payment for the Orphan’s Supplementary Allowance is issued every four (4) weeks in advance.
This allowance is paid for the period the youngster is between sixteen (16) and twenty-one (21) years of age.

Eligibility
General eligibility criteria:
- A person who is entrusted with the care and custody of a youngster whose parents are both deceased.
- One of the parents was registered under the Social Security Act (Cap. 318.).
- One of the parents was a citizen of Malta at the time of his death.
Documentation required
General documentation:
- Declaration signed by Applicant and also, if applicable, by spouse/partner. Click here to download the declaration, which is to be filled in and uploaded with the application.
- Court decree in respect of the youngster’s care and custody.
