Overview

Before updating your Maltese postal address registered with the Department of Social Security, you must first update your Identity Card details with the Maltese government agency Identità. This step is essential to maintain consistency across official records.

If you need to update the postal address registered with the Department of Social Security when moving abroad or returning to Malta, click here.  This update will not take effect immediately, as it requires verification by the Department.

What you’ll get

Through this service, you can update the contact details held by the Department of Social Security, including:

  • Postal address (entering the correct postcode is mandatory)
  • Foreign postal address while remaining in the same country, provided you are already registered with the Department of Social Security.
  • Email address
  • Landline number
  • Mobile number
  • SMS Payment Notification: This service is available exclusively to beneficiaries whose payments are deposited directly into a bank account. It is not offered for payments issued by cheque.

When you ask to have your contact details updated at a Servizz.gov centre and the person requesting the change provides an email address, an email notification will be sent to this person upon both submission and completion of the process. If no email address is provided, the Servizz.gov agent will request a mobile contact number so that an SMS notification can be sent instead. These notifications serve as confirmation that the report has been received and processed by the Department of Social Security.

Eligibility

If you do not have a Maltese identity card, and therefore are not yet registered with the Maltese government agency Identità, you may update your contact details with the Department of Social Security by visiting a Servizz.gov hub.

You may request to update the contact details of a beneficiary you are responsible for, provided you are a registered Administrator the Department of Social Security. You will need to provide official identification for verification purposes. This request cannot be completed online, but you must attend in person at one of the Servizz.gov hubs.

Requirements

To use this online service, you will need:

  • An e-ID account issued by the Maltese government agency Identità to do the update online.
  • If you do not have an e-ID account you need to visit a Servizz.gov centre and provide:
    • An official document to prove your identity, such as valid Passport or Maltese Residency Card.
    • Copy of your rental agreement or a recent copy of the ARMS Water and Electricity bill.

How to access the service

Authenticate with your e-ID account to access the Contact Details service.

If while accessing the service you encounter an issue or need assistance:

  • Visit our Contact Us page, select ‘Contact Details’ from the drop-down list under the mySocialSecurity cluster, and provide the details of your issue, or
  • Book a Microsoft Teams call with a member from the Information Management Unit.
